My grandmother passed away a few weeks ago.  She was 103, and she lived richly and fully, a blessing to many and blessed by many.  I love this picture of her getting on my brother-in-law’s 3 wheel “Spyder” at 98.  It’s so reflective of her spirit, even if it was a challenge to get her on it, ha! She will be sorely missed.

Why am I writing about this here?  Because my grandmother was 103 years old.  Let me say that again slowly…one…hundred…three.  You have to plan for longevity, because you just never know.  I thought she was pretty rare in the small town care home in S.W.  MO where she resided.  But there were two others over 100!

How did she make her money last?  She and my grandfather lived simply, and as she put it “built the barn before they built the house.”  They began investing long ago, socking their money away for a rainy day. And because of this, “Granny,” as we lovingly called her, was well provided for in her old age.

Are there motorcycles in heaven?  I don’t know… but Granny had a great ride here on earth… and something tells me she’s having the ride of her life now.

May you be just as blessed.
